Planned Pethood, Inc. is a non-profit, Northwest Ohio based organization who cares about the over population of dogs and cats in our community. We feel every companion animal deserves to live a life of dignity which includes adequate food, water, health care and a warm loving home. As a no-kill organization, Planned Pethood, Inc. provides medical treatment and behavioral rehabilitation for animals that come into our care and offers adoptable* animals to the public.
Thousands of dogs and cats are destroyed in local shelters every year as a result of pet overpopulation. To proactively solve this problem, Planned Pethood works with fifteen Northwest Ohio area veterinarians to provide affordable spay/neuter services. The organization works reactively through its creative adoption program by
bringing the animals to the people who will provide suitable homes and loving care.
Did you know? In 2007, Planned Pethood saved the lives of over 2,000 dogs and cats! Pretty good for an all volunteer organization. W
e saved these dogs and cats with your help and the help of our volunteers. Our goal is to save more in 2008! Please help us meet this goal! We can't do it alone--we need your donations!
Did you also know? It costs Planned Pethood an average of $225 for every dog taken in our program--and we adopt out each for just $125 to $150! We also loose money on every cat adoption. The only way to make Planned Pethood work is with your generous donations. Just click on "Donate" and find out how you can help today.
You can also indicate your company United Way contribution to go to Planned Pethood by writing our name in on the third section of your pledge form.
In addition, many employers will match your personal donation to Planned Pethood. If your company has a matching gift program, please mail the form along with your donation and we will process it. Please note that employer matching gifts may also be available to retired employees and to the spouse/widow/widower of employees.
Any help you can provide to keep us working for our area dogs and cats is appreciated! Thank you in advance!
Mission Statement: To reduce the overpopulation and suffering of dogs and cats through education and low-cost spay/neuter programs and to rescue, vet and place adoptable* dogs and cats into good permanent homes.
We are involved in...
Providing low-cost spay neuter!
Free Spay/Neuters for Low Income Families! Offering subsidies for local hardship cases upon available funds! In 2007 we only received $1,000 in grant funding for helping the public spay and neuter their pets. Planned Pethood spent an additional $23,000 plus to assist the public with spay/neuter requests. We believe spay/neuter is the ultimate rescue.
Litter Patrol! The spaying and neutering of dogs/cats being given away in classified ads or free puppies/kittens signs.
TNR! Trap, neuter and return programs in local trailer parks and other concentrated areas.
Spays/Neuters 2007! 2,160 animals were spayed or neutered by Planned Pethood!
Adoptions 2007! Dog adoptions-496. Cat adoptions-753
*("Adoptable" is defined as dogs and cats that pose no health or safety risk, which makes the animals unsuitable for placement as a pet).
