This is Blake

Blake is a 4 year old, 13 lb terrier mix, possibly with dachshund, who was unclaimed as a stray from a local dog pound. His coat is long and somewhat curly, and mostly soft rather than wiry . He's a bit shy at first but warms up quickly. Here is a note from his foster mom:

Blake really didn't answer to his name so we call him Bucky (Ohio State). His ears perk up with that one. He is crate trained and loves going outside to play. He is housebroken and is still a little shy, but does play a little with me. Blake is a very quite dog. I have only heard him bark once. He walks fast on a leash but overall has a medium energy level. He does not eat people food nor begs when you are eating. He also doesn't really seem to care for treats. This is Chauncy

Tiny Chauncy is a cute as a button 11 month old, 14 pound Jack Russell Terrier/Dachshund mix.  Originally coming to us as a stray from a local dog pound, his new owners returned him because he was a bit too energetic to be left alone for the long hours they worked.

Chauncy has the forepaws, snout and tail of a Dachshund but the rest of him, including his personality, is ALL Jack Russell Terrier - a big dog in a small package and would be best suited as a playmate for another dog and would most likely not do well left alone for long periods of time.

Chauncy is still working on his housebreaking skills.  Because he is Jack Russell, some knowledge of the breed and obedience classes are highly recommended.  He is a friendly dog with a super big personality, listens well and is a very loving dog.  Foster-PPI-37 ID#061008.1  6/28

This is Jethro

Second Chance Club Sponsor Jethro was sponsored for a Second Chance at life thanks to Lynn McNutt. Thanks Lynn! You can sponsor a dog or cat for a second chance too. Become a member of the Second Chance Club today...just

Jethro is a one year old, 30 pound male Corgi mix that was rescued from a local dog pound. He looks like a corgi in person more so than these pictures and is mixed with, boy who knows? He's adorable though.

Here is a note from his foster mom: Jethro is an affectionate and submissive dog and follows me everywhere.  When he wants attention he will come up and sit at my feet or put his head or feet in my lap; he also likes to have his belly rubbed.  He doesn't bark very much at all--will bark at cats and if someone comes into the back yard (his territory).  He doesn't generally bark at other dogs or even when the doorbell rings.  He is still young enough to do some chewing but he is getting better.   He seems to like my shoes the most, so I try to keep them behind closed doors.  He is overly attached to me and doesn't like to be left alone.  This is a problem we are working on.  He is getting better about being in the crate when no one is home.

He seems to get along with kids.  We recently spent time with some of my grandchildren (5 of them, ages 2-14) and he did fine.  Jethro usually responds to "come", “sit” and “no” and we are working on "stay."    His walking is much approved from when he first came to live with us.  He heels very well when there are no distractions, but still needs some work with the distractions--mainly other dogs he wants to say hi too.  This is a dog that can walk by your side without stopping to sniff everything in sight.  Great companion for your cardio workout.  Foster-PPI-69 ID#051508.3 6/10

This is Chewy

Chewy's nickname should be "Lucky" because he is very lucky to be alive! He missed not once or twice but 3 chances to be put down at the dog pound he ended up and was there weeks longer than most dogs. Hours after we were sure he had run out of time, Planned Pethood found room for him and got him out of there for another chance.

Chewy is a blue beagle who was originally a stray. His owner was found, but he decided not to claim him. His owner said he is 2 1/2 but we believe he is probably 4-5. He weighs about 20 lbs and is built and walks a bit like a little prizefighter. He's a friendly happy guy, especially now that he's on his way to a new loving family. If that might be you, complete an online application to meet him today! More to come on Chewy. Foster-PPI-55 ID#061008.2  6/9

This is Debbie

Virtual Adoption Sponsor Debbie was saved and named by Heather Zion in honor of her mother for Mother's Day. Thanks Heather! You can sponsor a dog or cat for a second chance too. Become a member of the Second Chance Club today...just

Hi - my name is Debbie.  My foster mom tells me how cute I am all the time and she said that my forever home is right around the corner.  I'm looking for someone that loves to cuddle, share doggy snacks and play.  I like playing with other dogs, but if you have lots of time to play with me, I'd be ok without another one in the house.  I love kids - there's a 3 yr old in the house now and she loves me too.  She calls me "puppy" and even though that's not my name she's so nice to me, I let it slide.  My foster mom thinks that I'm crate trained because I've not had an accident in it yet (but I've only been here a short while), but I don't like the crate.  I usually bark for the first 5 or 10 minutes that I'm in there.  I'm also part magician/ I seem to get out of my crates magically.  My foster parents put me in two different crates, I got out of both - not every time, just three times.  I'd tell you how, but a magician never reveals their secrets.  The crates are in the basement, so I didn't get into anything.  Once I'm at your house, my crate should probably be in a closed off room, in case I try my magic tricks again.

I'm about 90% housebroken - I don't give any signals yet, but my foster parents let me out ever few hours.  I've only had one accident since getting here and that's pretty good for a 5 month old!

I sleep all night in my foster parents room - usually on the bed, but sometimes in the doggy beds on the floor (if the other dogs don't kick me out). I need work on my leash manners. I like to pull and sometimes I jump up when I see other people.  I know, I need to control my excitement, but I'm still learning.

Because I'm young, I like to chew. I've only gotten a hold of socks and kids toys;  usually caught red handed right away.  I understand 'drop it' so when I get caught I get a cool doggy toy. My foster parents say I'm pretty smart and I am picking up good habits quickly.  I just need some more training.  Labs are smart - so I just a little work so I can be the bestest doggy you ever had!  By the way, I think I'm a lap dog and while it wouldn't be bad if I stayed this size forever, since I'm still growing, I need re-direction on making myself at home on your lap.  What can I say, I love to cuddle!! This is Justice, Judge, James, Jagger, Jackson and Jude

Hi! We are the J puppies--little balls of energy. We love to play with our foster siblings--the two and four legged kind. We are still puppies at just 3 months old and weight between 9 and 12 some pounds. We are learning all the important puppy stuff like how to go to the bathroom outside, we are learning to chew on our own toys and all sorts of good stuff like that. We are looking for a loving, FOREVER home where we can love and be loved in return. We also want someone to continue to teach us so we become good adult dogs.

Our dad was a purebred chocolate lab and our mom was a shepherd/collie mix. We are really cute and sweet. Our pictures here on this website have a reddish cast to our coats. We really don't have that and look more chocolate and black in color. Our pictures got taken (because we're so cute) under a red awning which makes use appear more red in color.

So now if you can offer us your love, time and training and want to take one of us puppies into your heart and home, please fill out an on line application to meet us right now!
