Dougie - ADOPTED

Meet the most gorgeous and unique-looking dog we’ve ever seen — Dougie! He came to us as a stray from an area near Amish country and is suspected to be a designer breed mix of Australian Cattle Dog (aka Heeler) and possibly long-haired Corgi (the booty-wiggle is undeniable). This mix is actually called a Cowboy Corgi, which describes Dougie perfectly. His early years are a mystery to us, but we can tell that they weren’t very kind.
Dougie is a very nervous dog that will require a lot of patience/kindness while he decompresses and gets comfortable with his new home. However, he is extremely docile, gentle, and can be very easily handled, which is rare for a stray. Dougie walks fine on the leash but gets easily spooked by loud noises and sudden movements. Gentle walks around the yard have been helping him gain confidence! He has a gorgeous coat of thick, soft fur and he loves getting scritches behind his adorable ears. I can tell that he would very easily be someone’s soul dog as soon as he’s able to trust his owner. If you can provide a calm, patient environment to help Dougie thrive, apply today!
