Josie - ADOPTED
Meet Josie - A gentle soul with so much potential — just waiting for the right person to help her bloom.
Josie is a young, small, pup who has already shown incredible resilience. Coming from a hoarding situation, she didn’t understand what love or trust looked like, but slowly, she is learning. In her foster home, after about two months, she began to follow her foster mom from room to room, even keeping close to her feet — a milestone that spoke volumes about her quiet courage.
Josie absolutely loves other dogs and enjoys the company of cats as well. She plays and interacts beautifully with them after a short warm-up period, and having other animals around helps her feel more secure in new environments. She is very close to being fully potty trained and does well as long as she is consistently taken outside. It is important that Josie is always kept secure on a leash attached to a harness or in a safely fenced-in yard, as she is still learning to trust her surroundings.
Because she is still nervous and learning to feel safe, Josie would do best in a home without children, or one with calm, respectful kids who understand that she needs space and time to approach at her own pace. She has made big progress — she now walks on a harness and leash, something she was once terrified of, and she has recently started taking treats from her foster mom, which is a wonderful step in bonding and training. Josie has been adopted once and returned through no fault of her own. Her adopters simply were not able to provide the patient lifestyle she needs to continue coming out of her shell. Josie needs a patient adopter who is dedicated to her success, someone who can provide reassurance, slow introductions, routine, and gentle training when she is ready.
She may not be the dog who runs into your arms on day one, but she is the dog who will reward patience with deep trust and meaningful connection. With time, kindness, and stability, Josie will continue to grow — and whoever earns her heart will have something truly special - fill out an application for her today! To set her (and you!) up for success, six sessions of Zoom Room training are included with her adoption fee.
