ZZ - Classified Ad - Finn CLASSIFIED, kept or rehomed

Special Notes: Finn is not officially in Planned Pethood. We are posting this as a courtesy to the owner. This dog is not in our care, and we cannot guarantee any statements here or made by the third party, including information about behavior or history.
Finn is a 6-year-old Miniature Australian Shepherd. He likes to be near his people and is known to herd children and adults. We also have a husky and a cat, and they all get along. As with most Aussies, Finn leans toward hyper vigilance and can express a vocal side. To help calm him he is taking clomipramine and it’s been a good way to help his nervous system relax a little. Despite his natural tendency toward vigilance and sometimes reactivity, or maybe because of it, he’s been good with our two kids. He sleeps with our four-year-old and is usually open to snuggles. However, there are moments when he is reactive towards adults, mostly when the snuggles get too long or tight or when he is afraid. He has had one known home before us, and before that was at a shelter. We believe he was mistreated based on some of his behaviors in the past before he was with the family before us, which is why they found him at a shelter.
Given the above information, we feel his best match would be a home with the following:
* A home with adults only who have time to exercise him and work with his anxiety and reactivity. Although he is very good with children, children tend to be unpredictable, so we do not recommend a future home with them.
*A fenced in yard for him to run in OR time for regular walks and exercise (NO TIE-OUTS)
*Someone who is dedicated to spending time with him and understands his breed
We are struggling with this decision because we love him, but with small children we think he needs a new loving home that can give him the attention he needs and deserves.
We will only be accepting serious inquiries from someone who has owned dog(s) in the past, preferably has experience with Aussies, and who has the home set up as well as lifestyle to match his needs.
